New from JetAge Studio, the "Dynamic Duo"! This is a really differrent kind of 104 coe frit concept; it's a striker, reducer and a reactor, and it's not one, but TWO frits intended to be used together! The "Dynamic Duo" is only found here, and is sold in packs of two; one is the main color (which arrives to you as a green glass) that strikes to a burgundy red, and the second is the "reactor" (which is a clear glass) that when melted on top of the striker, reacts with crazy color combinations and patterns. Reaction colors range from mint greens, turquoises, purples and buff yellows. YOU control the intensity AND design. All you have to do is first melt on the "striker" to your bead base, then melt on the "reactor" frit over top, and it changes almost immediately. It's MAGIC! Experiment with different amounts of each to get "your" look.
Frit combo packs come in two grades and in half ounce packs for a total of one ounce together. Choose between fine "striker" frit with powder "reactor" frit, or coarse "striker" frit with fine "reactor" frit.

Working tips: As you work the frits, more heat brings out more of the reaction, so use the "reactor" sparingly at first. Also the more you layer the "reactor" frit over the "striker" frit, the lighter the color becomes and changes it from dark burgundy to a myriad of colors. Exposing these to a quick reduction flame before annealing can bring out more intense colors. Prolonged exposure of the reduction flame can yeild some very interesting effects as well, such as copper colored haloing and metallic accents around the frit particles. Try it over other silver glasses for more reactions!
Top example features our "fine" grade Duo over Vetrofond Pale Pesto #820. Center example features our "coarse" frit over CiM Stone Ground. Bottom two examples show the fine frit again, this time over Effetre Opal Yellow #266 with stringers of Double Helix Aurae over top and melted in before applying the frit. After frit was melted in, beads were heavily reduced before annealing. Anneal with your normal annealing schedule for this glass. Enjoy!
Here you can purchase other grades, or get just a little more of what you need to experiment with your "Dynamic Duo" combinations. Sold in half ounce baggies.
A gorgeous custom hand blended JetAge Studio frit and is only available here! This neat, super silver rich frit is perfect for surface adornment, and creates translucent turquoises and blues when strongly reduced, and also produces incredible "oil slick" interference shine (and silver halos over clear)!
It works best unencased, but if worked cool and for short periods of time, this frit can be successfully encased and will retain it's mother-of-pearl shine. Longer working times and more heat, we've found, will fade the sheen, however. After applying the frit and melting in as desired, turn up your reduction flame to create a strong reducing environment (we like to use a flame with at least 2" yellow candles).
It responds best when "bathed" in the reduction flame instead of "bounced", although you'll need to experiment to find what works best for the effects you wish to achieve. You'll also need to experiment with how far up the flame you need to place your glass to get the strongest effect, as every torching environment is unique. Oil slick interference colors should work up easily in this reduction flame, and will go through a whole spectrum of colors from golden yellow to violet-magenta with repeated exposure and cooling cycles. As with most reducing silver glasses, if you reintroduce the glass into a neutral flame, you will erase the sheen, but it can easily be obtained again. This frit can also produce opaque coppery-red colors if over reduced, creating yet another interesting effect! Other notes we've discovered is the
fritcan be prone to bubbling if heated too quickly, but it can also produce interesting organic texture, as seen on the middle bead. Once your bead has achieved the desired effect, remove from the flame and anneal as usual (we usually anneal our beads at 960 F for 40 minutes). Experiment!
Frit is offered in 15 gram packets with no limit on quantity, and is a combination of medium to fine mesh particles to maximize the random shapes produced.

Our gorgeous custom hand blended 104 coe "Taji Opal" frit is a one-of-a-kind, super silver rich blend. It is hand blended to produce beautiful, watery, opal-like effects that shine and shimmer (see the bead examples). This special frit is made of 104 coe reactive glass with a few extra ingredients thrown in. Each frit particle is coated with our special precious metal powder which makes it a first of it's kind. You can get different effects depending on how you work it, and our free tutorial will teach you how to get the most out of this exciting frit. It's easy!
Our coarse blend (shown below) is not a specific mesh, but does consist mainly of larger pieces for maximum effect. This blend is great because it creates random sizes of larger and smaller "opals" so you'll get a lot of different sizes to play with. Sizes range from approx. 4mm wide and smaller.
Our "fine" frit blend (example to the right) consists of smaller particles (2mm or less), great for experimenting with finer detail and different effects.
The gorgeous beads above are a custom set made

Use common-sense safety practices when using this, and all
glass products. Because this frit, like most frit products, contain
glass dust and powder, and because our frit can produce great
silver fumed effects, it's important to have good ventilation while
working with it.
We'll also have a limited amount of "Taji Opal" powder available! It's super sparkly when reduced and encased, just like our bigger frit sizes, but looks entirely different! It will also reduce to a wonderful bright metallic shine when unencsed. This powder has a lot of possibilities, and is very versatile.
Our Taji Opal frit is available in coarse, fine and powder* meshes. *powder is uncoated

The second addition to our great 104 coe opal frits! "Lanikai Opal" works just like our "Taji Opal" frit; producing gorgeous, watery, opal-like effects that shine and shimmer (see the bead examples), but this one has the addition of bright green and blue glass in the mix. This custom hand blended frit is super silver rich, just like "Taji Opal" blend, and each frit particle is coated with our special precious metal powder which makes it a unique, one-of-a-kind frit.

"Cirriusly Gold" is made from Messy color "Cirrus", an ethereal milky, cool-toned translucent white color similar to moonstone, and if that wasn't cool enough, we've coated it in a glittery gold powder for an awesome new effect. Looks fantastic encased in clear, as it enhances and magnifies the shine, but the shine is still strong around and on each frit particle if left unencased. Easy to work but be careful not to apply too much heat when melting in as it may burn off the powder. We've found one great effect using this frit is to leave it raised and then encase heavily in clear for a three dimensional look! Great color and shimmer for your holiday beads, but we think it'll work fantastically for any occasion! Frit is 104 coe and available in a medium/fine mesh. Great to mixand match with our other colors!

Our sample close-ups to the right are Cirriusly Gold frit over a base of black and struck silver glass powder (really adds to the ethereal look and adds a lot of depth!). This frit will strike more opaque the longer you work it, and the gold flecks will appear as interesting glints here and there behind the "clouds". A subtle, but very interesting effect!

"Rose Quartz" Messy color is a beautiful baby pink opalescent color many are familiar with. We love this color because it's an opal color; sorta transparent sorta opaque and gorgeous to layer with other colors since it's final hue is influenced by the colors you use underneath (or on top for that matter)! Frit is 104 coe and available in a fine mesh. Great to mix and match with our other colors!

"Ruby Slipper" is made from Messy color "Bordello", a gorgeous rich dark transparent garnet red, but we've coated it in a glittery gold powder for an awesome new effect. Looks fantastic encased in clear, as it enhances and magnifies the shine! Easy to work, but work cool and high in the flame as excess heat may burn off the powder. We've found one great effect using this frit is to leave it raised and then encase heavily in clear for a three dimensional look! Great color and shimmer for your holiday beads! Frit is 104 coe and available in a medium mesh. Frit is sold in one ounce baggies, or save on two!

Offered in fine and powder mesh, a range of effects can be achieved with these two sizes of frit! Made from CiM glass, it's super easy to work with no reduction needed. Just apply frit or powder to your bead, leave raised as in the example below left or melt in (below right), let cool slightly then work in a neutral flame. The silvering effect happens almost immediately!
Either mesh size provides incredible shimmer and shine, texture and interest. Experiment!
A Few Working Notes: This glass tends to be on the "soft" side, readily spreading with concentrated heat. The spreading out effect can be seen in the image to the right under the murrini. Also, the silver will disappear if encased, but this can be used in certain applications to create neat designs.
Above Left: "Gunpowder", a powder version of "Gunmetal" frit, left raised.
Above Right: "Gunmetal" fine frit melted in with "Conchas de Plata" murrini.

For those of you who are fans of DSP shards, give this frit a try! Frit is offered in two meshes to create texture and interest. For our bead samples to the right, we used a base of black then rolled the molten bead into DSP powder and fully melted it in. The powder reminds us of luster powders, creating a soft almost satiny metallic surface. Then, we lightly rolled the beads again
in the powder this time leaving it raised, and just barely flame polishing. Instant ancient bronze beads! Try it with the fine mesh frit for largely textured and earthy effects. While this frit readily creates an antique bronze color, try working it cool to capture the multicolors typically found with DSP.

Focal bead to the right features our fine frit completely melted in for a smooth, random metallic effect, while the bead set left shows the frit left raised.
